Situation

The manufacturer was struggling to address siloed, duplicated, and inconsistent data across business functions, business units, and markets, which was preventing the company from enhancing its data-driven strategic and operational performance. The volume, variety, and velocity of data across structured, unstructured, internal, external, streaming, IoT, web, and mobile sources were far exceeding what the company’s legacy tools and architecture were capable of handling, which was hindering innovation. Resource-heavy manual intervention was required to cleanse and prepare data across the company’s portfolio, which was delaying the reporting cycles and producing outdated insights. In addition, inconsistent metric and attribute definitions, ad-hoc data governance, and data quality issues were chipping away at the business’ confidence and its use of companywide analytics.

Approach

As a long-time strategic partner, Cervello has helped the company’s develop its architecture strategy and advanced analytics capabilities, leveraging both AWS and the Microsoft Azure cloud platforms. The company’s new flexible, robust, and scalable architecture has processed more than 500 source systems with hundreds of thousands of data sets—providing a global footprint that can address the needs of more than 80 countries. 

 

We managed the design and development activities for dozens of parallel projects, business functions, markets, and technologies—engaging across the organization to make the business objectives a reality with data-driven solutions. In addition, we addressed strategic changes in the cloud provider, including a move from AWS to Azure to ensure interoperability and modularity throughout the architecture.
